Kriv

Kriv is a golden hued dragonborn who breathes lightning.  He likes to wear a loose tunic and pants that are often an uninteresting hue of brown or gray matching the clothes of his brothers and the rest of his extended halfing family.  Though he is known, like the rest of them, to wear an odd arrangement of brightly colored headbands, his favorite colors being orange and blue.

Merric's egg was found by the oldest of the young boys in the Errich family (Errich being the deceased great-grandfather who first made the family famous for their strange mix of thievery and honor).  The young halfling, Perry, gathered his other two brothers, Ostri and Garret as well as their uncle Fin to help them bring the egg back to their home.  They weren't sure what it was at the time though their mother Eida was able to shed some light on the situation after making contact with her sources at the library and they managed with limited trial and error to figure out the basic care needed for hatching a dragonborn egg.  The Errich family never told anyone where they found the egg, not even Merric, though strangely enough they claim to have not stolen it. Whatever that means.

Growing up Merric looked up to his older brother Perry and tried his hardest to be like him.  Perry is the best of the kids at pickpocketing and sneaking around, he follows after his father's foot-steps and often accompanies their father Errich the Third on his missions of thievery.  Merric tried very hard to keep up with Perry and when he was younger and smaller he could keep up reasonably well, being that at that point they were similar in size and Merric's claws were useful for grabbing and slicing open things, though his mode of pickpocketing and lock-picking tended to leave behind obvious signs of his work.  As he got older and grew exponentially bigger (around the time they had to add on a special room just for him because there was no fitting him in the rest of the house) he began to realize that he really wasn't like the other halflings and that the things they excelled at he would never excel at in quite the same way.  Using his mother's contacts in the library he starts researching his people, the dragonborn.  He takes on the name Kriv (sometimes spelled with a 'c', he's not particular) who was one of the lesser heroes of old.  Doing his best to model his life after the dragonborn (what little bits and pieces of their culture he can gather) and to find new ways to excel apart from Perry since he can't hope to match Perry on his own grounds Kriv begins focusing on his acrobatic and athletic skills, particularly on climbing and jumping both quickly and quietly.  Around this time he starts working more for his uncle Fin who specialized in stealing of information.  Fin found Kriv's help particularly useful due to his high charisma and ability to bluff or sweet-talk his way into and out of most situations (though being that he is the only dragonborn in the city they always had to be very careful that nothing linked directly back to Kriv, that being said, almost everyone who was anyone who knew of the Errich family knew of Kriv but he seemed to manage anyhow).  Kriv greatly enjoyed the work particularly climbing up walls and listening to conversations through open windows or sneaking around in the curtains or drapes of a well lit ballroom.  The more challenging or impossible looking the mission the more Kriv likes it.  He tries to be courteous to all and tends to be very polite, but is perfectly willing to steal whatever he thinks would be useful, however he only steals if it's for a job or has a use for what he is taking.

After a while Kriv grows restless staying home with his family, he has matured faster than his brothers and it feels a little bit strange to have switched roles with them, he feels like the oldest one now.  Because of the current political state of the city he is less able to help his uncle, if he gets caught everyone knows which family was doing the job.  Presumably word of his unrest gets around through his family contacts, one day when he gets home his family informs him that there is a letter waiting for him in his room.  According to family habits they never told him where it came from and he never asked.

The Errich family is a well known (among the right sort of people) band of thieves, their family has been in the business for the past five generations or so but they've only been well known for the past three.  They have certain standards that set them apart from you normal thieves and rogues, they are a little bit picky about who they steal from, they don't steal from people who are poor and they don't usually steal without reason.  Though sometimes they have been known to steal things for the practice or the challenge.  They are proud and do not like to be taken for granted or made fools of.  They are broadly known if not well known and have friends in all sorts of places.  Their neighbor hood is one of the safest in the area because of them and their contacts.  Everyone knows not to steal anything from an Errich or anyone in their proximity.  The Errich's have only began to handle information stealing in the last generation or so, but lately it has grown to be more and more useful, though also more dangerous.
